The Modern Brain, Metabolic Load & Why Biotin100 Matters

ree

A Personal Note from Me

I live with a high metabolic load — NeuroDivergence (ND), CFS/M.E., PFO-related oxygen drops, trauma recovery, neurodivergence, parenting, running a small wellbeing brand in a fast modern world. My brain burns through ATP faster than it can regenerate it, and for years I didn’t understand why I kept crashing. I know from others, research, social media and clients that I am far from a minority.

These days, my mornings begin simply: one Biotin100, my daily multivitamin, warm boiled water with Celtic sea salt and lemon and a Blue Zone varied breakfast & earthing practice. On days where my system feels stretched — sensory load, trauma echoes, PFO breathlessness, ND spike — I take a second Biotin100 with lunch. Herbal teas and gentle hydration carry me through the day.

It’s not rigid. My ND brain doesn’t do rigid. I rotate CoQ10, PQQ, ALA, creatine, spirulina, medicinal mushrooms, and magnesium intuitively or via recipes that incorporate those substrate nutrient combinations. Mostly, I follow a Blue Zone–inspired rhythm: sunlight, breathwork, nature, whole-food nutrition, foraging, earthing, seasonal variation, rest where possible, slow living where I can. It's quietly joyful.

When my ATP is supported, I feel it instantly. My system comes back online — cognition clears, emotional overwhelm softens, my CFS crashes reduce, and I feel present in my body. This isn’t wishful thinking — it is mitochondrial biochemistry (Raichle; Picard; Cunnane).

Additionally, so much of peri- and menopause isn’t “mood,” it’s mitochondria — ATP dips, inflammation rises, and the whole system feels overloaded. Biotin100 helps feed the energy machinery beneath those shifts.

And that’s why I’m writing this: not to promise cures, but to explain the biology of why so many of us feel chronically depleted — and why Biotin100 can be an anchor in a world that burns through our energy faster than any human body was designed to handle. And yes it does include the current science as honestly if we go off the old school stuff we may continue to be stuck in cycles of depletion. So by all means skim read or jump read or if your already intringued and sense an alignement to jump in and trial Biotin100 to boost your ATP support, feel free. If you want to undersand a little bit more about your Biochemical brainbody read on - please do what's comfortable for your own energy demands and trust your gut intuition - you may not be ready for a new step protocol OR this blog may find you synchronistically just when your reaching to understand more. I hope so, as both Biotin100 and Nuutree are here just for that internal glow up.

TRIGGER WARNING: Within this blog I discuss the topic of Domestic Abuse and Coercive Control, as someone with lived experience - sharing knowledge that may help others is part of Nuutrees 'Citizen Scientist' mission. Domestic Abuse costs the UK Government £66 BILLION a year, its rife - women and children are harmed or killed daily and weekly and its not being tackled lawfully. It's the elephant in the room for hundreds of thousands of women. To write a blog about 'The Modern Brain and Metabolic Loads' that lead to chronic ill health symptoms disproportionately for women and ND's must include this root cause.

In patriarchal structures, inaction becomes a mechanism of harm: when systems fail to intervene, protect, or reform, the omission itself becomes violence. And systemic injustice creates huge metabolic demands - we FEEL this, so we KNOW this.

Your Brain Is Tired for a Reason — And It’s Not Your Fault

Within this climate the modern female AFAB brain is performing far beyond its evolutionary design. Even on a quiet day, you’re managing artificial light, constant notifications, additional emotional labour, micro-decisions, sensory overload, disrupted sleep, and ultra-processed inputs. All of this in an outdated misogynistic patriarchial system that hasn't evolved alongside us.

None of this means you’re weak — it means your biology is overloaded. You're buffering energy.

You're brain is only 2% of your body weight but burns 20–25% of your total ATP every single day (Raichle). Neurodivergence, chronic illness, trauma, inflammation, CFS/M.E., MS, ADHD, hypoxia, long-COVID, and anxiety - to name a few - increase ATP demand even more (Picard; Cunnane). Fog, emotional volatility, overwhelm, and dysregulation aren’t failures — they’re signals of energy deficit.

So where does Biotin100 saturation dose Biotin fit in?

Biotin100 Isn’t a Beauty Vitamin — It’s an ATP Catalyst

Biotin isn’t a surface-level nutrient - that's old science. It’s a coenzyme catalyst for mitochondrial carboxylase enzymes — the machinery your cells use to produce ATP (Tong; Mock). When these pathways finally reach saturation, ATP rises and the whole system stabilises.

That’s why people notice:

  • clearer thinking,

  • steadier emotional regulation,

  • softer sensory overwhelm,

  • reduced inflammation,

  • improved mucosal and gut–brain function.

The beauty benefits — stronger hair, healthier skin, beautiful nails — are simply low-priority tissues receiving energy again. So beauty is a by product of Biotin100, not the core support function.

Modern humans are ATP-deficient because our lifestyles are ATP-expensive.

So supporting ATP is not cosmetic. It’s core.

Releasing the “Deficit–Disorder” Lens Lightens the Metabolic Load

For those of us navigating neurodivergence in the mix, here’s something I’ve learned — not just through science, but through lived experience:

The words we use about ourselves change our biology.

When you’re told you have a deficit or a disorder, the nervous system interprets that as a type of threat. Psychoneuroimmunology and mitochondrial research show that shame, stigma, and self-suppression raise cortisol, increase inflammation, tighten fascia, heighten threat schemas, and burn through ATP far faster (McEwen; Sapolsky; Picard).

This is one reason neurodivergent people — especially those with ADHD or autistic traits — often feel exhausted. It’s not just the neurotype rest-repair cycle needs and environments that are unaccounted for. It’s the story wrapped around it. Masking, managing impressions, shrinking your needs, suppressing your natural perception… all of that is metabolically expensive.

For someone already running on a delicate ATP budget, it’s overwhelming.

That’s why I reframed my own ADHD diagnosis into what I now call the Field-Sensing Neurotype (FSN) — because that is what my biology actually feels like.

Not disordered — highly attuned.

Not deficient — deeply perceptive.

Not broken — energy-intensive and evolutionarily intelligent.

Alongside FSN sits what we could now call the Deep-Sensing Neurotype (DSN) — the neurotype formerly labelled “autism,” but far more accurately understood as a form of high-fidelity, multi-layered, environmentally honest perception.

Not surface-focused — but deep-signal oriented.

Not inflexible — but pattern-precise.

Not detached — but intuitively coherent with systems and truth.

Together, FSN and DSN describe two complementary forms of advanced human sensing, on the spectrum of various personalities - variable and certainly not a fixed negative based diagnosis.

It’s important to remember that diagnostic systems have a long track record of misreading natural human variation. DSM manuals once classified homosexuality as a mental disorder (until 1973), framed gender diversity as pathology, labelled sensitive or introverted people as “schizoid,” and dismissed women’s trauma responses as “hysteria.” Autistic girls were misdiagnosed for decades, and ADHD in women wasn’t even recognised until the 1990s. Even spiritual or intuitive states were historically called “psychosis.” In every case, the people weren’t disordered —the diagnostic lens was too narrow to understand them.

This history matters. It shows why FSN and DSN reframes are not indulgent — they are part of a long-overdue correction. (FSN and DSN are suggestions only)

DSM history shows a pattern of misreading holobiont human identities, which is why we must question whether its criteria genuinely support whole-system health or merely reflect the priorities of the medical–pharmaceutical model?

And when we move away from reductionist thinking.....

When Language Softens, Biology Softens

Once I stopped identifying with the deficit–disorder framing, my body changed.

My ATP burn reduced. My inflammation dropped. My nervous system loosened its grip. I felt more myself.

Because the system was no longer fighting its own nature.

“When a person stops fighting who they are, the body stops wasting energy trying to hide it.”Bridie, Nuutree

Research backs this up: when stigma decreases, sympathetic activation quietens; mitochondrial efficiency improves; cognitive clarity increases; emotional resilience returns.

Acceptance isn’t psychological fluff — it’s biochemical alignment.

ree

FSN & DSN Are Evolutionary Neurotypes — Not Disorders

Evolutionary genetics increasingly shows that traits we now call “ADHD behaviours” once contributed to survival: rapid scanning, hyper-awareness of the field, relational intuition, creative problem-solving, and fluid attention (Arcos-Burgos & Acosta, 2007; Esteller-Cucala et al., 2020). Autistic sensory profiles show similar ancestral patterns of deep system-awareness, pattern-recognition, environmental memory, and social-ecological sensing.

These traits only appear “disordered” inside environments that demand conformity, narrow focus, emotional suppression, and fluorescent-lit linearity. Built on outdated patriarchal norms in stuffy male dominated DSM error-prone systems. They also prioritise profit over people and pathology over understanding. The words 'outdated' and 'harmful' best describe them.

Put these neurotypes back in a context that honours sensitivity and intuition, and their brilliance comes online.

Why ND Women Are Targeted — And Why It’s Not Their Fault

Another truth that needs to be spoken clearly is this: perpetrators of domestic above rarely begin with abuse. They begin with care. With warmth. With promises of stability, protection, and unconditional love. They mirror your values, reflect your empathy back to you, and present themselves as a safe harbour after a lifetime of trying to “fit in” to a world that misunderstands ND sensitivity.

This grooming stage is not incidental — it is strategic. Abuse is almost always covert before it becomes overt (Stark, 2007). As Laura Richardson, The Crime Analyst podcast and author states, they are 'Idiosyncratic' type men adept at sophisticated manipulation that can take place over years or decades unknown to the victim/survivor.

And when you place this grooming dynamic inside a culture shaped by patriarchal social conditioning, it becomes even clearer why so many ND women are targeted.

From early childhood, girls and AFAB people are socialised to:

  • be “good,” polite, accommodating, and self-minimising

  • ignore discomfort to preserve harmony

  • placate, soothe, and emotionally regulate others

  • sexualised from early teens via media and cultural norms

  • override gut instinct out of fear of being seen as rude or “too much”

    (Brown, 2018; Gilligan & Snider, 2018.)

Meanwhile boys and AMAB children are told — often by age six — to:

  • “man up,”

  • suppress tears,

  • disconnect from emotional intelligence,

  • prioritise dominance, certainty, and control tactics

  • treat empathy as weakness rather than communication

(Pollack, The Boy Code; Way, 2011.)

This is disembodiment training — for everyone. And LGBTQ+ young people often receive both sets of messages, depending on perceived gender roles, making the conditioning even more confusing and harmful.

This is not biology. This is socialisation. And perpetrators exploit exactly the wounds these systems create.

For ND women — especially FSN and DSN neurotypes — the risk increases because:

  • you feel deeply,

  • you love wholeheartedly,

  • you attune intuitively,

  • you want to believe the best in people,

  • and you’ve often been conditioned to doubt your own signals.

This doesn’t make ND women “vulnerable.” It makes perpetrators opportunistic, exploiting empathy and masking — traits and strengths optimised in healthy environments but can be weaponised in unhealthy ones.

And even in 2025, despite legal progress, accountability is inconsistent. Domestic abuse and coercive control continue to cost the UK £66 billion a year and remain structurally under-addressed, disproportionately harming women, ND individuals, and LGBTQ+ communities.

Reclaiming FSN or DSN is not just personal empowerment — it is social repair.

It interrupts a cycle that has been drip-fed through generations. It restores intuition that patriarchal conditioning asked you to suppress. It makes your early-warning system audible again. It returns autonomy to people who were encouraged to give it away.

“Perpetrators thrive when women are trained to distrust their own sensing. Reclaim your intuition; raise children who aren’t asked to suppress their truth — and the old world that enables abuse begins to fall away.”Bridie, Founder of Nuutree

And We Will Need These Neurotypes in an AI-Evolving World

AI will automate logic. But it cannot feel a room, sense a tone shift, read a field, intuit a pattern, or imagine something that doesn’t exist yet.

FSNs and DSNs can.

Their intelligence is relational, energetic, intuitive, environmental, creative, and emotionally aware — the exact qualities that guide paradigm shifts and support human transition periods.

It is consciousness adapting — not failing.

And yes — the diagnostic language desperately needs to catch up. Until it does, you are fully entitled to claim FSN or DSN, or to create your own felt-sense name that honours the truth of your neurotype. This gives you a protective buffer between your lived biological reality and the DSM labels that so often carry stigma, misunderstanding, and systemic bias.

Because here’s the deeper truth: for many of us, the real “disorder” isn’t our neurotype — it’s the systems that have pathologised sensitivity, intuition, creativity, and depth for generations. These frameworks have caused transgenerational trauma, economic marginalisation, educational exclusion, and social suppression for ND people — especially women, AFAB individuals, and those who mask to survive.

When a system misnames you, it mis-shapes your life.

Creating your own neurotype language — FSN, DSN, or something unique to you — is more than semantics. It is a boundary. A reclamation. A trauma interruption. A way of saying:

“The deficit is not in me — and the disorder is not in me. Both live in the systems that misread me. I choose something else”— Bridie, Founder of Nuutree

Just as people have created gender and identity language to articulate realities that were ignored or denied, ND people also deserve terminology that reflects our truth, not a medicalised misinterpretation of it.

Reframing your neurotype is a profound act of self-definition, biological alignment, and quiet social repair.

Let’s call these systems out — and call ourselves forward.

Why Biotin100 Helps Here

Biotin100 doesn’t change who you are — it buffers the energy cost of being a Field‑Sensing human or high metabolic load embodied energy system in an ATP‑expensive world.

By supporting carboxylase enzymes, stabilising ATP output, improving mitochondrial efficiency, and helping microbiome species calm neuroinflammation, Biotin100 helps ND bodies regulate without suppressing their natural perception.

You don’t need dampening. You need grounding — enough metabolic steadiness for your fascia‑brain‑energy network to do what it was made to do.

Neurodivergence isn’t disorder. It’s advanced sensing biology — and with proper energy support, it becomes strength.

The Brain’s Boutons: Where Energy Struggles Begin

Whether ND or NT, we are all bioenergetic, quantum holobiont systems moving within the wider electromagnetic field of the Earth. This isn’t metaphor — it’s the emerging synthesis of quantum physics and quantum biology, which shows that our cells, fascia, microbiome, and mitochondria operate through electrical, photonic, and vibrational communication.

At this microscopic level, synaptic boutons — the tiny junctions where neurons send information — are among the most ATP-hungry structures in the entire body.

And across research into Alzheimer’s, MS, depression, ADHD, chronic fatigue, long-COVID, and neuroinflammation, the same pattern keeps appearing (MacAskill & Kittler; Swerdlow):

bouton mitochondria weaken early → ATP drops → signalling destabilises → inflammation rises

This is not a psychological event — it is an energetic one. And it is shared across conditions because the underlying mechanism is mitochondrial depletion, not individual failure.

Biotin sits upstream of the pathways that nourish bouton mitochondria: ATP generation, membrane stability, methylation, and metabolic clarity.

This is terrain support — not treatment.

ree

“In the biochemical human, the synaptic bouton is far more than a neuronal junction — it is a living hub of information flow. Its immense ATP demand exposes the intricate, cooperative hologenomic dance between mitochondria, cytoskeleton, fascia, and field. When boutons struggle, perception, cognition, and physical control all shift. When they’re supported, the whole system regains clarity - Biotin100 supports that dance.”— Bridie, Founder of Nuutree (adapted from Rangaraju et al., 2014)

The Microbiome: The Hidden Energy Choir Behind Your Mood, Mind & Metabolism

ATP depletion doesn’t just fog the brain — it reverberates straight through the microbiome, the densely intelligent ecosystem shaping digestion, immunity, emotional balance, and the very signals your brain depends on.

These microbes are not passengers; they are co-regulators of the holobiont. They rely on mitochondrial cross-talk, a steady flow of ATP, and direct access to biotin substrate to function, repair, and communicate.

When energy drops, the shift is immediate and systemic:gut motility slows, mucosal barriers thin, immune tone heightens, and inflammatory species proliferate. The whole terrain becomes louder, leakier, more reactive.

But when biotin returns to sufficiency — especially at saturation levels — something remarkable happens.

Keystone commensals like Bifidobacterium, Akkermansia, and SCFA-producers such as Faecalibacterium prausnitzii begin to stabilise and grow again, because they require biotin to metabolise, divide, and maintain epithelial integrity (Zempleni; Magnusdottir).

As these species flourish, inflammation reduces, the gut lining strengthens, mitochondrial signalling clarifies — and the entire gut–brain axis shifts toward coherence.

Neurotransmitter production becomes smoother.Vagal tone improves.Tryptophan pathways stabilise.Serotonin, GABA, and dopamine are regulated with far greater precision (Agus).

This cascades upward into mood stability, clearer thinking, reduced emotional volatility, and a deeper sense of internal steadiness.

“Modern stressors like ultra-processed diets, antibiotics, inflammation, and circadian disruption deplete biotin-dependent commensals — and a Biotin100 Reset can help restore their growth by finally meeting the higher biotin demands required for microbial metabolism and barrier repair in the contemporary gut environment.”— Bridie, Nuutree (Zempleni; Magnusdottir; Agus)

In simple terms: when your microbes have enough biotin, your mind feels safer. Your emotional landscape becomes less jagged, your thinking less cloudy, your nervous system less reactive — because the linked organ beneath your brain (your gut) is finally supported.

This is why the effect of Biotin100 never feels “surface level.” It lands deeper. It lands in the terrain.

Mitochondria and microbes are constantly talking — in ATP, in metabolites, in electrical gradients, in molecular signals. And when both sides of that conversation are nourished, the whole holobiont begins to recalibrate.

“In the biochemical human, mitochondria and microbes speak the same metabolic language — when one finds its rhythm, the other remembers its harmony.”— Bridie, Nuutree

This is the quiet, powerful reason Biotin100 can feel like coming back into alignment — not because it treats anything, but because it restores the conditions your biology, energy and mood has been waiting for.

Why ATP Drops — And Why Symptoms Rise

By the time symptoms appear — fatigue, fog, dysregulation, crashes, inflammation — ATP has already been dropping for a long time. Chronic stress, sensory overload, trauma, toxin exposure, infections, nutrient depletion, circadian disruption, hypoxia, long term prescriptions, legacy burdens, toxic aspects of patriarchial societies, domestic abuse and emotional labour all push mitochondria out of ATP production and into defence mode (McEwen; Sapolsky).

ATP drops. Oxidative stress rises. Mitochondrial membranes stiffen. Electron flow weakens. Neuroinflammation activates.

These are not personal failures — they are energy economics and we are not designed to hold all of these loads ongoing. The call is to re-calibrate towards coherence.

A Clearer Look at the Energy Story — Before & After Support

Below is a simple visual to make the holobiont energy cycle easier to understand — especially if you’re a visual processor like me.

BEFORE SUPPORT
(When ATP is low + fascia is tense + microbiome is stressed)

Stress / Sensory Overload / Trauma / LED Light / Poor Sleep / Hypoxia
                ↓
     Mitochondria shift into defence mode
                ↓
       ATP drops (energy shortage)
                ↓
    Fascia tightens + inflammation rises
                ↓
Microbiome loses stability (↓ SCFAs, ↓ mucosal repair)
                ↓
   Brain overload (fog, dysregulation, overwhelm)
                ↓
Felt sense: "I'm not myself, everything feels harder."

--------------------------------------------------------

AFTER SUPPORT
(Biotin100 + Holobiont Nutrition + Fascia-Friendly Living)

Biotin100 saturates carboxylase enzymes
                ↓
ATP production rises + mitochondrial clarity returns
                ↓
Fascia softens (better hydration + electrical coherence)
                ↓
Microbiome stabilises (↑ SCFAs, ↑ mucosal repair, ↓ inflammation)
                ↓
Nervous system steadies + brain signalling improves
                ↓
Felt sense: "I'm back online. I can cope. I feel more like me."

This is not magic. It’s metabolic coherence.

Why a Saturation Dose Makes Sense for Modern Biology

We carry around one quadrillion mitochondria, and each relies on biotin-dependent enzymes to make ATP. Under ancestral conditions, the tiny microgram doses of biotin in food were enough. Under modern metabolic load, they’re not.

A saturation dose doesn’t mean “more is better” — it means finally reaching the threshold those enzymes need to function efficiently in a high-demand world. This is why high-dose research (like MD1003) shows metabolic effects that low-dose biotin can’t reach. Not as a cure — but as cellular stabilisation.

People living with ADHD, CFS/M.E., MS, domestic abuse or trauma histories, PFO/hypoxia, neuroimmune conditions, peri/menopause or chronic inflammation commonly report a distinct shift when biotin reaches saturation: clearer cognition, steadier energy, softer sensory overwhelm, fewer crashes, improved mucosal repair, and an internal sense of coming back online.

Biotin100 isn’t fixing us — it’s stabilising the pathways that keep us functioning.

A Blue Zone Lens on Modern Metabolism

The longest-living communities on Earth — the real Blue Zones — show us what biologically coherent living looks like: sunlight, nature, community, slower pacing, fibre-rich and diverse plant foods, seasonal rhythms, natural movement, ferments, joy, humour, music, purpose.

We don’t need to replicate them perfectly — our lives are different. But we can integrate their principles:

  • more light,

  • more nature,

  • more nourishment,

  • more community,

  • more joy,

  • less metabolic friction.

These are the environmental conditions our mitochondria and microbiome evolved for. Little micro practises work too - pay attention within your holobiont and notice the felt sense coherence as you realign, witness within and ascend to a new vibrational frequency that is 'Quantom-Biochemical Holobiont' friendly. It's a mouthful but you are that energetic being and you deserve energetic support.

ree

Why Biotin100 Is a Powerful Starting Point

Biotin100 sits upstream. It feeds the enzymes that feed the mitochondria that feed the ATP that feeds the whole you. From your thoughts to your synapses to your microbiome and beyond.

It’s not a cure. It’s not a replacement for lifestyle.

But for many of us — myself included — it creates enough internal stability to:

  • stay present,

  • reduce crashes,

  • stabilise overwhelm,

  • soften sensory edges,

  • support trauma recovery,

  • and feel like ourselves again.

It is metabolic scaffolding. Energetic grounding. A practical way to stabilise your holobiont in an ATP-expensive world.

You are not the prognosis — you are the ecosystem and your energy is renewable.

Try the Biotin100 Reset — A Simple, Upstream First Step

If you feel called to try Biotin100 RESET, know that it was created for real people with real metabolic load — not for hype, trends, or superficial wellness claims.

And the practical bit?

One tub lasts three months at one capsule per day suggested protocol (I take 2 on heavier CFS/metabolic load days or FSN task days and MS protocol online suggests 3 is optimal - it's user choice based. Tune into your body and sense your needs and track changes.

A felt sense of steadiness often appears after a few weeks — sometimes sooner, sometimes slower, depending on your biology. You'll likely feel some deeper resonance by Christmas time which may be ideal if you'd like to participate more, join some party vibes or just to cope with Winter blues - extra ATP covers all bases. Including just cozying up to Christmas Netflix and enjoying your own company feeling a bit more like yourself and with the added benefit of extra Biotin beauty markers as a side note.....real stronger nails or baby hair regrowth can be a Christmas present to yourself after many years of holding it together.

Importantly, you don’t need perfection. You don’t need to overhaul your life. You just need a starting point.

If you’re curious, if you’re tired of feeling tired, if you want to stabilise your inner terrain gently and realistically, a Biotin100 Reset (9–12 months, then intuitive ongoing use) may be a supportive first step.

You’re welcome here. You’re supported here. And your energy story matters.

Explore Biotin100, feel into your own holobiont, and let your biology show you what’s possible. Revealing the nu u, already within.

Safety Notes

Biotin is a water-soluble nutrient. High-dose biotin has been shown in research to be non‑toxic, with excess naturally excreted in urine rather than stored in the body.

The main caveat — and it’s an important one — is that high-dose biotin can interfere with certain blood tests, especially thyroid, hormone, and cardiac markers. This is not harmful to your body — it simply alters some lab assay readings. The solution is simple:

Pause Biotin100 for 72 hours before any blood test, and inform your healthcare team that you take high‑dose biotin.

Biotin is a nutrient coenzyme and is not known to interact negatively with medications. However, if you take prescription drugs, always check with your clinician.

Nuutree promotes a Citizen Scientist approach: exploring your own biology, tracking your own shifts, and making informed decisions grounded in both research and lived experience.

Your wellbeing, safety, and sovereignty come first — always. B x
